5 Girls are a rock band from Raglan, New Zealand, who formed in the early 90s. The girls were very active in the underground music scene from 1993-1997, touring and playing the circuit around the country, with many rockers such as Sticky Filth, The Warners, Head Like A Hole, and Shihad. 5 Girls played regular gigs with Hamilton friends Swampgoblin, Hapukalypse Now, Th’Clap, and also had close ties with Taranaki and the legendary punk rock scene.
After a long hiatus, 5 girls reformed in 2016. With new songs and a few old favourites, they have recently played with Japans’ Shonen Knife, and at Hamilton’s ‘Future City Festival’, opened for Australian punkers – Hard Ons and supported Sticky Filth on their recent tour.The 6 song EP named Basement Tape, was released in December 2018, and the girls are planning on another release before the end of 2019. https://5girls.bandcamp.com/releases
